Art exhibition: On White, by Cristina Oliveira

Photography exhibition at Casa Morgado Esporão - 1st March until 30th April 2019

On White

White is many whites, many textures, some shadows; under and over white many forms are inscribed.

The sum of all colours is by definition what is said of white, however, it has already become banal. It is not a "colour" that awes, that surprises us in our urban landscape. It is rather a colour that mutes or illuminates objects whether upon it the light shines or conceals.

Common forms are for us those we see systematically and to which we no longer consecrate a minute of our time because it seems to be a waste to observe what has become a matrix in everyday life.

There is between white and the shadows projected in it, or the marks inscribed by time, a fusion, that becomes, in certain cases, a double specular nature happening - there we can see drawn and illuminated the silhouette of a woman, a face here, an animal there, or accidents that transports us to more abstract or more poetic reflections.

To gather the white "colour," in its variousnuanceswith the unconscious invisibility of the plastic and mute signs that we cross daily, was in this series, the theme that I resolved to explore.
