Depending on the season, there will be different birds to watch. Below the alternatives on offer:

October to February - Through lands of the Cranes

In addition to Cranes (Grus grus) you can see steppe birds or aquatic birds, depending on the tour. You can chose half day tour or full day, but watching the Cranes will imply either a full day tour or a afternoon tour.

March to April - Courtships

It's time to search for Great bustards (Otis tarda) and Little bustards (Tetrax tetrax), as well a the full community of steppe birds including Lesser kestrel (Falco naumanni) and European roller (Coracias Garrulos). We recommend a full day to take advantage of what nature has to offer in this particularly beautiful season in the Alentejo.

May to June - Glidders

Vultures and large birds of prey are on the spotlight in this period, but plenty of other Mediterranean birds can be observed too. In the southern tour you will be able to see steppe birds, while in the northern tour you will search for Osprey (Pandion haliaetus) and other aquatic birds. Both tours are for a full day.

July to September (Premium tours)

Days are larger and to take advantage of this, we'll leave very early in the morning and come back late. You'll go through the largest possible number of habitats available in Alentejo including the famous Oak parklands known as Montados, wetlands, south western coast, steppes, vineyards, etc, with the goal of whacking as many bird species as possible. We'll go through some iconic places from cultural and scenery standpoints, such as Alcácer do Sal, Odemira, Cabo Sardão, Mértola, Porto palafítico da Carrasqueira amongst others.
