Montessori workshop at Casa Morgado Esporão

Maria Tecla Artemisia Montessori (August 31, 1870 – May 6, 1952) was an Italian physician and educator best known for the philosophy of education that bears her name, and her writing on scientific pedagogy. She was a single mother. She developed the Montessori educational method, which is based on self-directed activity, hands-on learning and collaborative play. In Montessori classrooms children make creative choices in their learning, while the classroom and the teacher offer age-appropriate activities to guide the process. Children work in groups and individually to discover and explore knowledge of the world and to develop their maximum potential.

The Montessori education system has all too do with Casa Morgado Esporão vision and principles. Therefore, it was a great pleasure for us to host the 2-days workshop aimed at promoting the Montessori pedagogy (for children between 0-3 years), organised by Jardim da Descoberta. This is particularly important, since Portugal has yet to create its first Montessori school.

We are very broad in types of events we host and promote, but those explicitly aiming at contributing to a better society and environment are particularly cherished.
